His photorealistic acrylic paintings show detailed landscapes in crystal-clear light and one involuntarily thinks of the lines of the poet Friedrich >Hebbel "the air is still, as if one hardly breathed". But Lentsch incorporates irritating breaks into his harmonious views of nature, because the artist and philosopher is aware of the fragility of apparent idylls. He finds his motifs on his mountain hikes. At home, in his studio in Ried, the self-taught artist meticulously transfers the photographs to the canvas."

Markus Hauser, foreword in the 2019 catalogue

"The themes and motifs to which the Oberland artist Reinhard Lentsch turns his attention are of an almost classical format. Since the beginning of art, it has been man, fauna, flora, landscape and architecture that artists have been dealing with. Beyond formal or technical aspects, this broad subject matter also offers plenty of opportunities to explore ideological approaches, whether philosophical, political or mythological in nature. Last but not least, it is important to develop and cultivate a personal signature that makes the creator of a work recognisable. And Reinhard Lentsch, who has been working intensively as an artist for almost 40 years, using both graphic and painterly means, has clearly succeeded in doing this."

Siegfried Weger, "Tirolerin", September 2019

"Reinhard Lentsch is a master of contrasts. He places light spaces in front of deep shadows, uses complementary colours that heat each other up (or cool each other down) and then surprises us with sections in black and white. He alternates meticulous attention to detail with calm surfaces, into which he then incorporates irritating breaks. For once, life is not one-dimensional, at least not for the Oberland artist-philosopher from Ried im Oberinntal."

Behind the motifs - mountains, animals, people - there are usually several messages, which are cryptically encoded and only reveal themselves after a long look and with some additional information....
